who watches the watchmen?after those months of hype and anticipation, it's out!watched watchmen today with sherilyn, after much delay heh.a fanboy's wet dream come true.
to me, this is probably THE movie event of the year.THE comic book movie of all comic book movies.because as a graphic novel, watchmen is a literary breakthrough, a masterpiece in it's own rights.it's like THE graphic novels to end all graphic novels.
as for the movie, from a fanboy's point of view, it is awesome.visually astounding, intense and impactful.it's the watchmen movie that you've always wanted to see, but never thought would turn out this way.
set in an alternate 1985 america where the cold war tension is high between the united states and soviet union, masked vigilante rorschach discovers his fellow watchman, the comedian was murdered and uncovers a plot that threatens to eliminate costumed superheroes.together with the other watchmen, nite owl II, silk spectre II and dr manhattan, they soon uncover a conspiracy that not just link to their past but also have a castatrophic effect on the human kind.
true enough, the movie stays faithful to the graphic novel, even to the narration of rorschach's journal.some fans might not like it but i do.but my only qualm abt the movie as a whole is that the movie is too short.left out the tales of the black frieghter, which plays a significant yet small role in the graphic novel.
character developement was also limited by the length of the movie, as each character did not have time to grow to have an equal impact it did in the graphic novel.characters like nite owl II, the comedian and ozymandias could have been better.this is one reason why watchmen is best left as a literary medium rather than a visual medium.
jackie earle haley's potrayal of rorschach/walter kovacs was perfect though.he IS rorschach and what i imagined rorschach from the graphic novel to be.strong in his sense of moral absolutism, cynical and brutally agressive.
i also love the way how pop music is fused into different scenes of the movie.the times are a-changin' by bob dylan, to show the backstory of how minutemen evolved to watchmen.the sound of silence by simon & garfunkel, showing the funeral of the comedian.it leaves viewers to intepret the scene in the way they want to view it.
overall, 4 out of 5 popcorns.visually powerful and compelling, the fight scenes brutal, heavy handed and awesome X 100.the narrative and storytelling could be improved on though.

the watchmen fever.2 more days!
already hyping up for the movie event of the year, for me that is.got myself a dc direct watchmen 6 inch figure today also.god i'm going to go so broke because of this.with wave 2 coming in 2 weeks time, not good for my pockets.
will post more pictures of it when i have the time.the identity of the superhero is a dead give away.

friday night, my heart is still beating.
yes i met sherilyn's parents.last friday night at her brother's school event, dreams from the sixth brain.how do i say, kinda awkward and i was nervous X 100.i think her mom was really friendly but her dad was quiet.i don't think he really fancies me.not good.
nice one and i failed my btt today.ouch/embarrassing X 100.

carling cup final.man utd 0-0 tottenham.but we won 4-1 on penalties, carling cup champions!
as promised, sir alex stuck with the youngsters that brought united to the finals, with darren gibson, jonny evans and danny welbeck starting.started brightly, dominating possession and creating plenty of chances down the wings.
despite united's dominance, all we could do was to throw long shots at spur's defence.gibson and ronaldo wasted chances, while welbeck could have scored from scholes's brilliant long range pass.tottenham wasn't playing that bad either.
lennon was skinning evra throughout the match, modric's passing was good, assou-ekotto manage to stand his ground against ronaldo.at the stroke of full time, ronaldo has a brilliant chance to score but his shot smacked against the post.
after a dull extra time where scores were all even, it was down to penalties.
ben foster was the hero in the shootout, saving jamie o'hara's penalty and seeing david bentley's penalty wide.while giggs, tevez, ronaldo and anderson converted all the penalties for us.carling cup champions!two down, three to go.quintuple, here we come.
