(500) days of summer.as you know, it's a boy meets girl kinda story.but this ain't no love story with the usual happy ending.this movie i dare say, defines love and relationships of this generation.this movie is what ghost is to our parents, and definitely a movie that in the future we will tell our kids about.

it's a very quirky rom-com, shot in a unique manner.the story is told as a nonlinear narrative, using 500 days as a way to chronicalize the story.the relationship of the story is based from the guy's perspective, a fresh idea.

basically, it's a story of love.about love.how we choose to remember only the good of it but not the bad when one ends.how blinded are we when we fall in love.

one wld notice throughout the movie, how the titular character, summer (played by zooey deschanel) is actually not much of the perfect girl that tom (joseph gordon-levitt) thought that she wld be.in fact, she's quite a heartless bitch who's very indifferent towards him.he loves her but she doesnt reciprocate the feeling.

and i guess most guys can relate to tom, in the way he shows his love towards summer.like whoa, she IS the dream girl for his and he is in what he wld call a perfect relationship.despite all the subtle underlying problems in their relationship that they fail to address at times.and you can see, through the little actions summer does, she actually has tom's balls stuck in a cookie jar.

one thing the movie is very unique is that it's totally told from the guy's perspective of a relationship.you see the expectations and reality, you see the literal thought bubbles (the scene where they were talking abt past r/s) and you see how guys usually chase after a girl.absolutely can relate to that.

in a way, it totally reflects modern relationships and how it works.the times where we're indifferent towards each other, in the slightest of mannerisms.the way we look each other in the eyes and see the love in it.how we guys try and fail to get over girls that really impacted our lives.how we wallow in that pool of misery.and how without fail, pop culture is an essential thing of life for us now.

5 out of 5 popcorns.THE love story of our generation, and a perfect look on relationships of these days.love how the movie integrates into the movie (regina spektor's us, the smith's please, please, please let me get what i want, hall & oates's you make my dreams, the temper trap's sweet disposition and wolfmother's vagabond) and how the mood of the movie changes w it.

caught inglourious basterds today.

surprisingly, this is the least violent and gruesome of all the tarantino movie's i've watched.simply put, it's abt the 2 seperate plots to assasinate hitler and nazi, one by a jewish cinema owner and the 2nd one by the basterds.

and whatever quentin tarantino does can go no wrong.the movie is very dialogue driven, which allows room for much character exploration and development.esp christoph waltz as ss officer hans landa.so many facades of his character is being portrayed through the film and i think no one could have done it better.

and what is the film like w/o the titular characters?a motley crew of nazi-killing basterds.brad pitt as aldo raine, eli roth (the hostel director) as donny 'the bear jew' donowitz and til schweiger as hugo stiglitz.

brad pitt has the coolest accent ever, eli roth the cocky motherf**ker and til schweiger as the german with the unorthodox ways of murdering pple.

and and and.probably the find of the film.

melanie laurent as shosanna dreyfus/emmanuelle mimieux, the cinema owner.she's so darn pretty.plus she can act too.though towards the end she was scary lol.

guess it's the time of the month where i write the usual touching and mushy stuff abt you haha.anw it has been 19 months since the wee hours of the morning of 17th feb 2008.that moment when i decided to ask you to be my gf.

i still rmbr it like it was ytd.i still rmbr your vague reply where you said you're taking a big leap.i still rmbr how happy i was.how fast 19 mths has passed since then.

i was sitting in the office this morning, thinking.i can't believe i've gone 19 months with you, sherilyn.i'm amazed because never did i thought that this relationship would last this long.we've gone through the happiest of times and the roughest patches together.we've done the darndest and call each other names.hell, we've even broken up a few times.

but one thing is for sure.i'm thankful for everything.

i'm thankful you happened to me, and gave me probably the most topsy turvy 2 years of my life.i'm thankful to have you as mine for 19 months.and never did i regret every moment spent with you during this period of time.

with me being in ns now and you still working for now, we can't meet up as often as we like.that is why i've learn to treasure every little moment we can spent together, however short it is.and i've learned to treasure you even more than ever.

which is, mostly due to the fact that i tend to get so sad and lonely in the morning in camp due to unfamiliar faces.not forgetting the boring army directives i've to study.

they say ns is a test of your relationship.i truly hope it strengthens our relationship.make us both realise that we're past the stage of arguing over the little things.to think ahead and see the consequences of our actions whenever we were to start flaring up again.

and being in the army gives me so much time to think, think about everything and anything possible.

what would our future hold for us?will we still be together many years down the road?will we find another soulmate?will we eventually one day get married and settle down?many questions with no certain answers.

but i promise you one thing.no matter what the future brings, know that you're my first love.know that i'll love you forever.know that i really wanna be with you , through every argument we will have, through every joy we will share and through every moment when you just need to hold on to someone dear.i'll be there.

i find that the food at the cookhouse in camp ain't half bad.taste like economic rice.

army life now is rather monotonous and office hours are mentally draining.and i definitely miss the girlfriend.she's like the only thought constantly in my mind from start of the day til the end of work.she keeps me going.

let me tell you a story about love.about a boy and a girl.

it was an august evening,or rather, night.it was the last concert of baybeats 09, with anberlin being the closing act.the boy and the girl were there.right in the middle of the crowd eagerly waiting for anberlin to come on stage.the girl's cousin and brother left to find a better spot at the back, leaving the boy and the girl alone together.

after a long 45 min wait, anberlin took to the stage.many hundred pair of hands raised towards the sky, screaming their lungs out.and the boy went 'FUCK YEAH'.

then it began.the moshing, body surfing, pushing and shoving.the boy and the girl, the crowd around them, were pushing.shoving.desperate not to lose her to the sweaty bodies around, the boy held onto the girl's waist, tightly.

the girl flashed the boy an uneasy look.

the boy saw the look in her eyes, and he asked her why.but the music drowned out whatever he had to say.

enjoy the night, he thought.don't let her spoil it.

so with every song played, he let his emotions take over.screaming along, hands held high.every once in awhile, he look out for the girl.making sure she's alright.

but truth was, the girl was enjoying the show.she asked the boy to just concentrate on the concert, not on her.she assures him that she's fine with this.he knows that she is.

then came the moment.the band played the song inevitable.to much cheers from the crowd.everyone had their hands held high, swaying along with the music.there was no moshing, no pushing nor shoving.just enjoying the show.

somewhere in the crowd, someone lit up a lighter and waved.a symbolic sign.

the boy did not have his hands up.he held onto the girl, with his hand around the girl's little tummy.oh how he regretted not telling her how beautiful she looked then.she was oblivious to the boy, and how he looked at her.

then he whispered those lyrics in her ears.i wanna be your last first kiss, that you'll ever have.i wanna be your last first love, that you'll ever have.

there was no reaction from the girl.then she turned and looked at him.and told him to stop breathing in her ear.the boy smiled.

because it was at that very moment, he fell in love with her again.the raw emotion gnawing at his heart.so strong he couldn't express it at that very moment to her.

because he knew, there will be no one like her.there will be no one would be able to tolerate such rowdiness in a concert like that.there will be no one to tell him that he's crazy and as nuts as the crowd around them.there will be no one he once liked that would go to this concert with him and actually enjoy it.

at that very moment he thought, if they both were to be married, he would choose that song as their wedding song.because it was the first concert they went together and it would be special.and if they were to have kids, he would tell them how he fell in love with their mom over again that night.

he knew the girl was touched.and that she was just holding back by telling him to stop breathing in her ear.she just don't want the boy to know that.

with that, he planted a gentle kiss on the girl's cheek.

3 words for ytd's baybeats.ANBERLIN MOTHERF**KING ROCKED.first up was at the observatory deck at the esplanade library.it was some interview sessions or smth of that sorts.

and they performed radiohead's creep!

ANBERLIN.

later in the evening, they performed an acoustic set at the outdoor arena.stephen christian can really sing live, no shit.they did songs like a day late, the unwinding cable car, inevitable, paperthin hymn and feel good drag in that 1/2 hr set.

way later at night, they closed up baybeats at the powerhouse.what a crowd i must say.plenty of moshing, bodysurfing, pushing, shoving.not forgetting the condom balloons.

songs were mostly the same as the acoustic set.with additional songs like godspeed and breaking.there was a sample of the song there is no mathematics in love or loss during soundcheck, but wasn't played during the set.

they did an encore too, for *fin.apparent crowd favourite haha.

and nathan young was fucking awesome on the drums.

definitely a night and a concert i won't forget.

the only reason we went to the store signing was because of brian bolland.who is brian bolland?well he is the artist of the killing joke which is a classic one shot batman story.

watched g.i. joe: the rise of cobra yesterday with the girlfriend.

basically it was a case of her swooning over duke (channing tatum) and me swooning over the baroness (sienna miller) and scarlett (rachel nichols).especially the baroness. ;)

like they said, evil never looked so good.the baroness, storm shadow, the doctor/cobra commander and the neo vipers.not forgetting destro, who got his trademark silver "mask" at the end of the show.but the cobra commander's mask towards the end looks like crap though.

as for the good guys, snake eyes was the only cool thing among the joes.his suit and weapons are the shit.the accelerate suits that duke and ripcord wore for the paris scene was coolshit too.

overall, 3 out of 5 popcorns.good action sequences, understandable storyline but pulled down by poor graphics and really cartoony dialogues.

watched public enemies on saturday with the bros.

set in depression era america, it focuses on fbi agent melvin purvis's (christian bale) attempts to capture criminal bank robbers, most notably john dillenger (johnny depp).

i wouldn't deny that this show is good, like any other michael mann directed film.

one of the main focal point of the film is johnny depp.he definitely owned the whole show, proving that he's one of the best and most versatile actors in the business now.

heck he can transform into different roles without being distinctively recognizable.think edward scissorshand, ichabod crane, willy wonka, jack sparrow and sweeney todd.

marion cotillard who plays his love interest billie frechette, ain't half as bad.her chemistry with dillinger is another plus point of the film.and she looks like katy perry, but with more class.now that's sexay.

compared to the other michael mann films, the character development and the relationships between the characters aren't as good as his other films.

especially when you have the ever one-dimensional christian bale as fbi agent melvin purvis, the g-man who's in charge of capturing dillinger.not much development of the relationship between dillinger and purvis.

overall, 3.5 out of 5 popcorns.enjoyable, but otherwise a tad too draggy.

imho, the new iron man armor really suck.big time.because it looks very weird and totally off.let's just wait til the official photos of the suit.

and the big wait is on this.scarlett johansson as black widow/natasha romanova.

srsly, she looks way better in the magazine cover than in the first look picture.there's just something off about her as black widow.weirdly she doesn't have the hotness factor that black widow has.

me still thinks emily blunt is better as black widow.

caught transformers: revenge of the fallen ytd with sherilyn.probably the hugest movie event of the year, considering most cinemas are sold out or in our case, a full house which i managed to book the tickets to.

me being me, obviously can't wait for the movie.in preparation (haha like arif like that) i rewatched the trailers over and over, rewatched the first film the night before, bought an ROTF tee and an optimus prime toy, and listening to linkin park's new divide for god knows how many times.

yes such a geek i know.

alrighty the movie.one word - AWESOMEEE.just darn motherfucking awesome.it definitely owns watchmen in terms of action, scale and whatever.except the storyline that is, which is pretty generic.

the fallen brings the decepticons to invade earth.the autobots comes in and stop them.the fight between good and evil is waged and the good truimph in the end.the guy gets the girl.

but but but.one must remember transformers IS meant to be a wham bam no brainer action flick.and that's what director michael bay is good at.

non stop action from the start towards the end, massive explosions and even massive damage, awesome CGI and even more awesome fight scenes. with full on metal collision of robots against robots.and us boys we love our robots.

it's just like seeing your childhood dream come true, seeing the cartoon series being brought to big screen.though i was brought up on beast wars rather than robots in disguise.but it's just something inside us that makes us go wet over such heavy tin soldiers.

because we can never imagine special effects wld be so good that we will see realistic robots on screen.another is the way autobots/decepticons trasform to their robot form.it's just woahh.

OPTIMUS PRIME!ever since the trailers, he was going to be the main focus of the whole movie.and he ownsss, especially the starting scene where he airdropped from the air carrier and transformed in mid-air.the most awesomest starting scene ever ever.

and who can forget that scene he took on 3 decepticons (megatron, starscream and grindor) all at one go and still managed to slice grindor's head into half.the 2 energy blades are hot stuff X 100.

BUMBLEBEE!the autobot that everyone loves.he's the cutest robot ever i swear.sings / i'm so exciteddd!

love it whenever sam calls "bumblebee!" and it just transforms and at ready with his cannons.love how the way it took down rampage and ravage in the ending desert scene, no fucking mercy.love how it was made to be the most human of the autobots, how it cared for sam as a guardian and all that.

and it cried!awwww.

MUDFLAPS AND SKIDS!the twin autobots, whole initially appeared as an old ice-cream truck before it get upgraded to being seperate robots.probably the most memorable addition to the new robots in the movie.

and who can ever forget megan fox? =DD

as usual, she's hotter than ever.probably every fanboy's favourite pin up girl ever since she opened bumblebee's flap and arcs her body in the first movie.now you got her leaning on a huge ass bike showing off her ass.niceee.

and ZOMFGG to the moments she showed off that turqoise coloured eyes of hers.and the part where she said that she needs sam when he's half dying.such a lucky bastard.

and the best line she said in the movie.KISS THAT, BITCH!

and the supporting cast is also good, providing comic relief to the movie (sam's parents, his roommate, that sector 7 fella).

not forgetting the other transformers on either side.had goosebumps when jetfire came alive and transformed.sideswipe owned sideways with just a blade.ironhide commanding leadership when optimus is not around.and wheelie the RC monster truck is so darn cute too!

it actually humped megan fox's legs!zomfgggzzz.

the fallen looks menacing while neither starscream nor megatron was as imposing as the first movie.bad thing is that decepticons die too easily, though they have quite the number of transformers.

overall, 5 out of 5 popcorns.no doubt the best movie this year, despite the thin storyline and repetitive soundtrack.nothing beats robots whacking the shit out of each other.

now this is not your typical romcom which caters to the female counterparts.rather it's about bromance, or in more sophisticated terms, the exploration of platonic relationships between dudes.

fucking hilarious movie.paul rudd plays a rather feminine straight dude while jason segel (ftw!) plays a straight dude yet to explore his feminine side.the chemistry between is so natural and us guys can totally relate to the type of relationship both their characters have.

can totally relate to the exploration of relationship between guy/girl and guy/guy.ohohoh and rashida jones, who plays rudd's fiancee in the film, is so fucking pretty.

overall, 4 out of 5 popcorns.probably one of the best romcoms ever.and who could forget jon favreau and jamie pressley?so fucking rofl.I SLAPPPPP DA BASSSSSSS.

first up, superman for all seasons.any geek should know this is a pretty old comic (way back in '98) but heck, it's by jeph loeb and tim sale.you couldn't go wrong with 'em.finished reading it otw home hahaha.

the main haul.final crisis baybeh!!saw this while purchasing superman and snapped it up without hesitation.the crisis to end it all, starting from crisis on infinite earths to infinity crisis.been waiting for this since late last year.

to top it off, it's THE new release this month.what an iconic picture, supes holding the dying bats in his arm.

champions league finals.barcelona 2-0 man utd.arguably, the beautiful team won.

on this night we got our tactics so wrong.barca set about playing their free flow attacking football while we're just not up to par.iniesta and xavi destroyed us while eto'o and messi provided the finishing touches.

to be fair, barca deserved the trophy for the wonderous season where they are having now.

anyways, caught terminator salvation today.

sorta was anticipating for this as i have a huge ass terminator fan for a best friend and i grew up on watching re-runs of t2: judgement day.

set 15 years after the 3rd movie, john connor has become the leader of the resistance and has to stop skynet from manufacturing more terminators that will annihilate the whole mankind as we know it.

imo, christian bale as john connor was big time fail.pretty much summed up by the fact that his acting was one dimensional.and that oh so irritating growl from the dark knight.

sam worthington's performance as marcus wright, a human-terminator hybrid stole the show.some darn good acting.again, bale has to play second fiddle to another supporting actor (first one being the dark knight).

he was the emotional focal point of the movie, a death row convict converted into a human-terminator hybrid who slowly realises he's not a human but in fact robot.

oh and who could forget kyle reese?

the famous resistance fighter in terminator immortalized by michael biehn.anton yelchin (pavel chekov in star trek, the russian w the irritating twang) plays him in this movie.

didn't make much of an impact but maybe in the later films due to the whole time travelling back to 1984 to save the world from arnie the terminator.

overall, the movie ain't that impressive.but the wham bam action does make it rather cool though.director mcg did pay homage to the terminator movies with the classic "i'll be back", "come with me if you want to live" and the guns n' roses song from t2.

overall 3.5 out of 5 popcorns.

some die hards would prefer american idiot over this album.yes american idiot was and still and epic.but 21st century breakdown is different, more stadium rock than punk rock.think bullet in a bible.

to sum it up, it's an album of punk ideals that follows a young couple (christian & gloria) through the times and mess of this century.

but hands down, it's defo more poetic than american idiot.the title track is still the massively epic track of the whole album (scream, america scream/believe what you see/from heroes and cons).

caught star trek on the opening day which was today after work with sherilyn.

to begin with, i ain't a trekkie but i do know my stuff.spock, kirk, klingons, vulcans, uss enterprise blah blah blah.the list goes on.

j.j. abrams's star trek was a prequel to reboot the whole franchise of god knows how many tv series and movies.which i wld say, really good stuff.the opening scene was visually awesome yet touching.then the back stories of kirk and spock, how they become who they are.

zachary quinto's potrayal of spock ownzzz the show big time, even better than leonard nimoy's cameo.chris pine as captain kirk wasn't half bad either.and who can forget pavel chekov the russian.his twang and his v's and w's.hilarious.

many references to the current franchise.klingons being mentioned many times, the development of the phrase "beam me up, scotty!" and spock's usage of "set phasers to stun".

the battle scenes were visually stunning and epic, the graphics were omfggg.every fanboy's wet dream come true.c' mon, do you expect anything less than that fr j.j. abrams?

overall, 4 out of 5 popcorns.save for the last battle with the romulans, which was well, short and nothing we've not seen before.

quiznos is the 2nd largest sub sandwich chain (subway being the first).but imho, subway is still the best, hands down.though quiznos cookies are really really good stuff.

ohh and the champions league semi-finals 2nd leg.arsenal 1-3 man utd, with us winning 4-1 on aggregate.awesome display of man utd counter attacking football at its best.woot, rome here we come!

like the first leg, we dominated from the start.gibbs's slip up allowed park ji-sung to give us a 1-0 lead on the 7th min.

3 mins later came a cracking 41 yards free kick from ronaldo.beautifully taken shot that whizzed past almunia and put the tie beyond doubt.arsenal have to score 4 goals to proceed to the final, due to the away goals rule.

the 3rd goal came on the half hour mark where anderson's defence splitting through pass found rooney in which the united no. 10 crossed for ronaldo to bag his 2nd goal.no doubt ronaldo certainly is back to his best.

the only blot in the match was fletcher's red card in which van persie converted the resultant penalty.scant consolation for the gunners.

graduation day ytd.so yes i finally graduated from poly after 3 years.

not the best of teams were played as injuries and suspensions took it's toll.tevez starting alone up front sums up the striker crisis.while evra was the only first choice defender in the squad.definitely not the best of teams.

now this isn't one for our pockets.hot toys releases the teaser pics to its first MMS DX figure, heath ledger's joker from tdk.

the teaser pictures released today and ytd.the policeman joker and the joker from the mob meeting scene.pretty ridiculous to release this deluxe fig, considering both jokers have an added screen time of less than 10mins in total.

now talk abt really milking a franchise to the limit.though i wld look forward to seeing how DX this fig turns out to be.

something i felt during lunchtime.

i was late by 50 mins.she seemed unhappy.she has the rights to i guess.but deep inside there was this little emotional battle.

part of me wanted to call her a selfish and impatient prick.argue with her, make sure she crash and burn.deny that it was my fault.ignore her.

part of me wanted to just look at her.see that frustrated face of her glaring at me.or just staring into space.at that point i dknw whether to break into a smile or just laugh.

i did none.i just observed her.

you see, despite all that.i enjoy seeing her this way.she looks cute and oh so attractive whenever she's angry or frustrated.it just makes me want to plant a kiss on her cheek on her face then flash a cheeky grin.

and then she's probably just roll her eyes and go "mehh" again.

now that's why she's so unique in her own way.she's the girl i love. ;)

not that bad a show.about an aspiring musician, souchi negishi, who goes to tokyo harbouring dreams of being a trendy pop musician.but turns out he became the popular lead singer of death metal band dmc (detroit metal city), johannes krauser II.

ridiculously funny and crude, staying true to the anime.though it wld be better if there was the pig of capitalism.the character potrayal was spot on.overall, 3.5 popcorns.highly enjoyable if you're in for a laugh.

and finally by the end of the day, i got my prom stuff!haha and i got both of us lost trying to get from china square central to clark quay's central.ended up in raffles place in the end lol.

football channel's clash at the quay.man utd 1-4 liverpool.utter humiliation of the red devils.where did it all go wrong one might ask?

in truth, we played a bad game of football ytd despite starting brightly.the torres-gerrard partnership destroyed us.

tevez trying too hard to impress.park ji-sung showed signs of brilliance, but not good enough.ronaldo was shut out.rooney was trying to make the difference.the midfield pairing of anderson and carrick was rather anonymous.vidic didn't have the best of games trying to mark fernando torres out.

the triple substituition of berbatov, giggs and scholes was an act of desperation in hope to salvage a point from the game.though i must say vidic didn't deserve his marching orders.heck he wasn't even the last man.

liverpool wasn't exactly playing their best, but united was just plain bad.oh well i guess this makes the title race more interesting with united's lead at the top cut down to 4 points, albiet a game in hand.

so went to sentosa ytd with ain, khai and meiyin for the skyride and kuge.was the first time i tried the luge there but it was shiokkk X 100.ended up it was always me and meiyin competing for last place and lucky i wasn't the last. =D

since we have some time to spare, decided to catch a movie.watchmen hahahaha.2nd time for me watching this movie, which i totally don't mind cause that movie is just plain awesome to the core.though it made my gf angry at me, but not for long also heh.

went to mdis for some life science talk after the movie.i was supposed to be there with sherilyn but i ended up being very late and almost missing the whole talk.had toast box for dinner at causeway point after that.what a long bus trip back to woodlands.

sherilyn ordered mee siam while i had chicken sausage egg noodles.which i think its a bloody rip off considering it's $4.20 for a bowl of instant noodles?headed home after dinner.

such a geek.rewatched watchmen today with khai, ain and meiyin after our luge plan.

still get goosebumps when i watch it.such epic awesomeness is watchmen.this time round, could notice the easter eggs that director zack snyder planted in the movie heh.
